Latest Portrait

Ok, this is the 2nd portrait I've done this year. I really want to improve, so I'm looking for my next subject. This one is ok, but not as good as my cowboy portrait, which didn't really resemble the subject but still turned out nice. He can be viewed in my archives.

Winter Cards

Here are the cards I've done so far. I have been very busy at work and just can't get in the "spirit". The framed picture was for my mother.

Bird Stool

This bird stool I painted quite a while back. It demonstrates one stroke painting. It's one of my favorites.

New Couch

Here is the new couch!! Tough time keeping the dogs off it though! Tim, Jareth and Willis are in the picture enjoying it!

Fantastic Blog Candy from Jacque

Jacque's Joie de Vivre

Look at this beautiful card Jacque created! It truly is a work of art. She's giving away 3 Tilda stamps just in time for Christmas card making. She is definitely one to watch for inspiration. Can't wait to see what else she'll be designing!

Prismacolor Illustration Markers

I was recently sent 3 sets of Prismacolor markers to review and I have to say I love these markers. The 3 kinds of markers I reviewed are: Fine Line, Chisel Tip and Brush Tip. They are acid free and archival quality, so they'd be great for scrapbooking. They are also much less expensive than some of the other markers out there. The colors are very vivid and appealing, as you can see from my samples.

The House Mouse is a rubber stamp that I colored in and the snowman and manga girl are freehand drawings using the 005 black detail marker for the outlines. They also have larger fine line sizes available, as well, for journaling, detailing, outlining, etc. The chisel tip markers can be used on the flat edge to color in large areas or on the very tip for fine detail work. I found it very easy to color in small areas of my rubber stamps using the tip. The brush tip markers are just as easy to use and will also fill in small detail areas by using just the tip. They would be good for a nice cursive script or creating "ribbons" of color. They can also be used on their sides to fill in larger areas. I use mostly bristol paper, and there was no bleed through.

These are being marketed as Illustration Markers, and I have to admit, I am not a professional artist, let alone an illustrator. I found that when using on bristol paper, I couldn't go over the image repeatedly without the paper getting "roughed up" from the wet ink. (Unlike my Prismacolor Art Markers) All-in-all, these markers do exactly what the advertising says: no bleed through, different tips to cover a wide range of applications, vivid colors that are lightfast, acid free and archival quality, and nontoxic. And if you go to www.prismacolor.com, you can get a rebate on your purchase. So you can try them for yourself and let me know what you think of them.

I will also send 2 lucky winners a set of four markers. Simply leave a comment and a link to your artwork completed with any Prismacolor product. The winners will be picked at random in December. I look forward to seeing your masterpieces!!

Howetown Farm Show 2009

The blog is pretty much finished for this year. I added a new slideshow and a video. It was a great year and everyone had a good time. This is a wonderful, free community event for anyone in the area on the last weekend in September. howetown.blogspot.com

OK, this picture of Bart is now officially finished. I doubted the resemblence (this was my first portrait), but Bart liked it, so I gave it to him. I was very flattered that he wanted it, and am now looking for my next subject.

Candy Corn Step Card
I was making flowers with my Cricut and thought the petals of this flower looked like candy corn. I colored the flowers with my Prismacolor markers and outlined each "corn" with a Micron 005 Pigma Pen. The green DSP is from Stampin' Up. And, of course, the Martha Stewart butterfly, which is in everyone's collection!! :)

Am I a Duck, or am I a Chicken?

With the kiddie wading pool (borrowed from our labradoodle) close by, the ducks prefer a small kitty litter pan. They are afraid of the pool and our pond.

Cool Blog Candy...Another Great One!

If you scroll down her page, you'll see the many beautiful cards she has done. I especially like the little princess Anya card. There's alot of detail in it.
